Black and white photo of two people talking in a rehearsal venue. The man on the left has long hair and is looking ahead, while the woman on the right is gesturing with her hand and talking. She is STUDIO/ editor, Emma.

EDITOR

Emma’s editing style is all about rhythm, feeling, and texture - cutting visuals to a track with an instinctive touch and always hunting for those extra assets that make things pop. With a BA in Film and TV from Edinburgh College of Art, she cut her teeth writing, producing and editing narrative films and music videos, including projects for bands like Deacon Blue and Ash, before focusing full-time on video editing for the music industry.

Since 2021, she’s been a freelance editor with STUDIO/, crafting content that’s rich with atmosphere and storytelling. Her favourite technique at the moment is making digital feel tactile - VHS grain, film overlays, textures that blur the line between nostalgia and now.

Her proudest project to date is a series of reimagined music videos for Ash, where they built new narratives from archival footage, hitting a sweet spot of 90s nostalgia and artistic freedom.

When she’s not in the edit, you’ll probably find her on long walks with her dog, tending to her plant collection, or drinking coffee in a café and talking nonsense (or work… or both).

CURRENTLY listening to:

Maple Glider (via a Partisan records rabbit hole), and always listening to Talking Heads - especially Stop Making Sense.

fun fact:

She studied ballet for 10 years and can still do pointe - barefoot.
